Makita is expanding the line of cordless outdoor power equipment with the 18V LXT® 18" Telescoping Articulating Pole Hedge Trimmer Kit (XNU05SM1). The motor delivers up to 3,600 SPM for faster cutting. It is a welcome solution for professional hedge trimming because there are no pull starts, zero emissions, lower noise, and reduced maintenance.

Ten angle settings provide efficient trimming of overhead and low-lying hedges. The telescoping shaft easily adjusts the length from 6-feet to 8-feet to access hard-to-reach hedges. The 18-1/8” dual-action double-sided shear blade provides optimal performance.

Makita's Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) is a protective seal inside the tool. It is designed to improve a tool’s operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components.

For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. Star Protection Computer Controls™

STAR is communications technology that monitors conditions during use, allowing the tool and battery to exchange data to protect against overloading, overdischarging and overheating. If STAR detects conditions that threaten to overload, overdischarge or overheat the tool or battery, the tool will automatically stop. At that time the user can either restart the tool, change or charge the battery, and put the tool back to work. When you slide a Makita 18V LXT® battery with the STAR symbol onto a Makita tool that has either the STAR symbol or a yellow terminal, you are benefitting from STAR Protection Computer Controls™.
